Hotel Heineken Hoek

Únor 2024

Amsterdam

The Heineken Corner is a fictional hotel in Amsterdam. The point of the design is to demonstrate the viability of classical architectural ideals for a contemporary city.

The design seeks to maximize the value of the plot. Therefore, the entire available area is built up. The buliding has six floors: the ground floor features a corner café, a reception and the breakfast bar of the hotel. The other floors contain accomodation and services for the hotel, for a total of 28 rooms and three suites on the top floor. The building is served by a single staircase and elevator.

The design is a mixture of design features typical for Amsterdam and of characteristic Czech stern classicism, which also translates well into the Netherlands.

The overall mass is composed of three volumes – a central one with three axes and two side volumes of five. This makes the corner compositionally symmetrical.

Vertically the facade is organized by th ree cornices, the middle one corresponding to the cornices of adjacent buildings on Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen.
